Junior Band
The Junior Band is comprised of students grades 3-8 and meets twice weekly after school for forty minutes time. We work on the fundamentals of good music making; posture, breathing, literacy, embouchure, technique and tone production. Students are given performance targets to reach as an ensemble, as well as private instruction to cater to their personal musical needs.
Cost: $50/Semester (instrument/books not included)
Senior Band
The Senior Band is comprised of students grades 5-8 and meets daily during the Fall and most days during the Spring (depending on sports scheduling) for forty-five minutes time. We reinforce all fundamentals covered in Junior Band, but with more rigor and depth. Students are expected to meet all practice requirements, and are responsible for a log each week. Students are able to come in after school for additional assistance on their instruments. Private instruction is encouraged.
Cost: $50/Semester (instrument/books not included)
Glee
Our Glee club meets once a week and is comprised of students grades 3-8. We focus on music from all over the world, and even throw in pop tunes from time to time. Students learn to sing solfege, read notation and speak in multiple foreign languages, including Italian and Hebrew! We also participate in community performances when they promise to be enriching and educational. This year we will be featured as the childrens chorus for Center Stage Opera's production of La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini.
Middle School students involved in Glee have the opportunity to be a section leader, and assist the director.
Cost: $25/Semester (music included)
FAQ:

Please note that each year we have different needs for instrumentation, please contact me with questions! jstephens@phoenixranch.org
Do you teach string instruments (Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass)?
Unfortunately, a beginning string student has needs drastically different from students who begin a band instrument. We do not offer strings at this time.
Do you provide instruments?
The budget for the music program is comprised from students' semester fees. This money goes to equipment, microphones, music stands, risers, and let's not forget music purchases! Students may rent or rent-to-own from local stores. Please contact me if you are looking to purchase an instrument.
