A Tradition of Excellence

The Phoenix owners and administrators, Frances Alascano and Amy Brown, recently reflected upon the growth of The Phoenix Ranch School and Camp on its twenty-eighth anniversary in 2010. "Our success has been the result of hard work from an outstanding team of qualified professional teachers, support staff, and administrators. Our vision, from the inception of the Phoenix, was to address the needs of the whole child, include a community of support, and provide academic rigor within the school."

The Phoenix Ranch School provides an outstanding educational opportunity for children ages 3 to 13. Our accredited preschool has met NAEYC’s standards of excellence in early childhood education. Programs, such as ours, that meet these standards, provide a safe and healthy environment for children, include teachers who are well-trained, have access to excellent teaching materials, and work with curriculum that is appropriately challenging and developmentally sound.

The kindergarten, elementary and middle school programs incorporate the California State Content Standards in a full curriculum that also includes music, foreign language, and physical education classes. All teachers in kindergarten through eighth grade possess a California teaching credential, many with a master's degree in education.

The Phoenix Ranch Camp has also undergone an evolution of ideas and programming over the last twenty-eight years. Camp continues to thrive, maintain its American Camp Association Accreditation, and meet the recreational needs of children from 5 to 13. Camp counselors are 18 years or older, hired with complete background checks and involvement in 30 hours of pre-camp training, as well as first aid and CPR certification.

Ownership over twenty-eight years has given the administration the hindsight and ability to reflect and to better lead The Phoenix Ranch School and Summer Day Camp into the next decade of quality education and recreation for our children.
